Amphu Lapcha Pass Trekking Overview
Among many passes in the Khumbu Region, the Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is one of the most challenging trails. The Tashi Lapcha Pass lies in the west of the Khumhu Region. There is a high valley called the Rolwaling, known as "the grave" among the indigenous Sherpas. Buddhist traditions in this region are taken more seriously than elsewhere. Festivals here are quite frequent, and celebrated with tantric rituals followed by singing and dancing late into the night.
You will first take a 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Charikot. Then we start trekking to Ratomate from Charikot. The Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek combines both Rolwaling and Khumbu valleys, giving the visitor a rare opportunity to explore life in the remote areas in Nepal. This Trek offers you some enthralling views of the mountains like Jugal Himal, Gaurishanker, Khumbu Himalaya range, Rolwaling Himalaya range, Chobabhamre and Pachhermo Peak. Moreover, you will also dig deep into exotic local cultures and diverse flora and fauna.
The narrow and hidden valley of Rolwaling unfolds near Beding (3,510m) and Na (4,120m) villages, where you can spend days (as much as your time allows) exploring Yak pastures and visiting the Yalung-Ri Base Camp. The main spots of this Trek are Jagat, Simigaun, Yalung-Ri Base Camp (4315m), Tcho Rolpa (4561m), Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755m) and Namche Bazaar (3480m).
The Rolwaling and Tashi Lapcha Pass at (5700m) are technically closed to outsiders. However, one can obtain a permit for Ramdung, a well known trekking peak and then the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) Office issues a permit for Rolwaling and Tashi Lapcha as well.
