Manaslu Region trekking lies in the west-central Himalayas of Nepal and borders Tibet. The region is one of the most remote and culturally preserved trekking destinations in the country. After a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola or Machha Khola, trekkers enter the beautiful Manaslu Conservation Area. Established in 1998, the conservation area protects a rich variety of wildlife, forests, and traditional mountain communities. Most of the people living in the upper region are of Gurung and Tibetan Buddhist culture, and their lifestyle, monasteries, language, and attire reflect strong Tibetan influence.

In the Manaslu Region there are several trekking routes. They include: Manaslu Circuit Trek, Tsum Valley Trek, Manaslu and Tsum Valley Trek, and Rupina La Pass Trek. The Manaslu Circuit Trek is the most popular trail of the region and is well known for its untouched landscapes and authentic mountain culture. The trek circles around Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain in the world at 8,163m. One of the major highlights of the trek is crossing the challenging Larkya La Pass at 5,160m, which offers spectacular panoramic views of the Himalayas.

While trekking in this region you will see magnificent views of Manaslu, Himalchuli, Ngadi Chuli, Ganesh Himal, and Shringi Himal. The trail passes through dense rhododendron and pine forests, alpine meadows, rivers, waterfalls, and high mountain glaciers. The Manaslu Conservation Area is home to more than 110 species of birds and several rare wildlife species. Animals found in the region include the snow leopard, Himalayan tahr, musk deer, blue sheep, and Himalayan black bear. Trekkers may also encounter beautiful Himalayan birds such as the Himalayan Monal, blood pheasant, and various eagles along the trail.
